Claire's Marathon
Story
"Looking the other way is not longer an option" - Tim Costello
After hearing Tim Costello, Chief Advocate of World Vision speak recently at a conference I was incredibly inspired about the work he does to help those in need, particularly refugees. On 16 October I will be running the Melbourne Marathon with the hope to raise much-needed funds for a cause that I am very passionate about, World Vision.
There are currently 13.5 million people, 5.6 million of who are children that are in of need desperate humanitarian assistance inside Syria and those of whom are refugees. Their lives are at risks everyday with the ongoing war that has claimed well over 270,000 lives.
World Vision has contributed enormously to the Syria crisis. They have provided humanitarian assistance to 1.2 million people in Lebanon, reached over 600,000 people in Jordan, and helped 300,000 people in Syria. World Vision has provided the assistance of food, water, health and hygiene as well as refugee camps, medical attention and providing safe places for children to restore a sense of normality.
In November I will be going to Jordan in which I have been given the opportunity to visit World Vision, this has inspired me to raise money for such an amazing organisation that does so much for a cause that receives such little generosity and attention.
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference to the lives of these innocent people.
