Jolling shoes for the less fortunate
Story
I'm taking part in the 2016 Melbourne Marathon Festival and hoping to raise much needed funds for charity.
This October the 16th, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course through the streets of Melbourne and ending back at the world famous 'G! (Melbourne Cricket Ground for the non-Aussie residents)
I am honoured to be a part of this amazing race and helping a great cause, and I’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
All I ask is that you take a moment to count how many pairs of shoes you own, I currently have 16. I can honestly say that I probably wear 6-7 of them consistently. Recently I gave 4 pairs to a Salvos, so only 1 month ago I had 20. Ridiculous!!!
There are those less fortunate than us that either have one or zero pair of shoes -- shocking!!!
I'm sure some of you may remember a time in our youth when we all had a pair of school shoes and a pair of 'sports' shoes which were pretty much used for everything. Fast forward to this day, and now we (I) have 4 pairs of 'Running' shoes, 2 pairs for golf, boots, brown shoes, black shoes, 2 casual (maybe 3) , flip flops (thongs), casual runners, 2-3 smart shoes and random others that are kept for that 'maybe I'll wear them again' scenario.
So here is my simple request, count your shoes, feel guilty and donate $2 for each pair over 10 that you own. This money will help send unused/used shoes to those that are more in need. Share #guiltyascharged #gotshoes and the link https://melbournemarathon2016.gofundraise.com.au/page/JacquesNel
If you can honestly say you have less than ten pairs of shoes, then spare whatever change you have and put some shoes on someone in need.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference.
Keep on Jolling.
Shoes for Planet Earth Inc
Shoes for Planet Earth collects recycled running shoes from the community and gives them to the homeless and needy throughout Australia and around the world at no cost. To send 20 pairs of shoes to Alice Springs costs us $100 and to South Africa $200. This may seem like a lot of money but to these people it may be one months wages. Please donate so that we can send your shoes to those in need www.shoesforplanetearth.com and put a smile on someone's feet. THANK YOU :)
